The Springfield Men's Soccer League (SMSL) was founded in 2000 to provide high quality, organized adult soccer for Springfield, Illinois and surrounding areas. The SMSL has enjoyed 9 years of continous play and has established itself as a premiere venue for soccer in central Illinois. SMSL players include former area high school and college standouts, as well as international players of tremendous skill. Teams composed of SMSL players consistently do well in local and regional tournaments, as well as in competitions such as the Prairie State games.

The season winner for Fall 2009 was The Corner/The Creek. They won both halves of the season and were the heavy favorite going into the tournament. The Corner/The Creek made the final and faced Turnout Movement Studios on a gorgeous day for soccer before an apprciate and substantial crowd at SASA 1. Golden Boot winner Miguel Calderon scored a golden goal in overtime to lift Turnout to victory.
