SMSL Board Meeting Mar 20, 2006 Floyd's Attendance: Paul, Bundy, Nyagloeh, Graves, Turner, Fletcher, Solomon. 1. Last meeting discussed. Formal minutes not yet available. 2. Treasurer's report- Beginning balance of about $1200. Refs for season will be $575 week ($60 middles, $25 lines, $5 scheduling). Insurance $415. Still some sponsor revenue outstanding. Projected end of season balance of about $3000 barring unforseen expenses. 3. Referee review- Overall ref quality is good however there is at least one ref who continues to be a problem. Some discussion will probably occur with the ref scheduler regarding the individual in question. It was suggested a referee review form be developed to provide feedback and assesment. It was suggested only selected refs be allowed to ref the postseason tournament as a reward for doing a good job in the season. 4. Disciplinary- There was a minor scuffle following the conclusion of the Mexico-Ghana game. No formal actions (such as cards) were taken and some details are sketchy. The Board agreed to have the Disciplinary Committee Chairman handle the matter informally by calling the involved players and impressing on them the need for restraint and adult behavior, and the need to set an example for other players. 5. Draft issues- A number of issues concerning the recent draft and assignment of players were discussed. Some frustration was expressed at some post draft changes made to accomodate some player concerns and the process by which those changes occurred. It was suggested a new set of rules be drafted for later review setting out the procedure to follow when players who have been drafted indicate they cannot play after being placed on a team. It was also suggested a set of rules be developed governing trading of drafted players. 6. Kiwanis prep- Kiwanis needs to be prepped for play. Turner, Fletcher, and Graves to be primary workers. Adjourned 8:30 Respectfully submitted.
