Minutes of SMSL Meeting 11/27/06

Attendance:  R. Paul, M. Solomon, S. Norton, R. Vanderkolk, C. Purser, S. Argibas

Called to order 7:10.



1.  Minutes of previous meeting(s) to be reviewed next meeting.

2.  Treasurer's Report- May still be out some registration fees.  Have some final expenditures.  Balance is looking better at about $2,000.

3.  Phone list/contact list needs to be updated.

4.  Discussed suggestion to get t-shirts instead of medals for members of tournament winning team.

5.  Spring season-  Discussion of new competitive league under Capital Sports umbrella.  Difficult to speculate effect league will have on SMSL.  Appears to be a for profit league.  SMSL will shoot for having 6 teams for Spring.  Need to firm up sponsor contacts.

6.  Discussion on roles of new directors.  One idea was to have Directors be there or get somebody to serve as Field Marshals for all games.  Discussion on writing up and formalizing the duties of a field marshal.  The idea would be to have a witness to disciplinary situations, someone to collect or make game reports, and pay refs.  

7.  Registration-  Online registration has a cost.  Probably won't solve problem of chronic nonpayers.  League should set up to at least take registrations even without money.  Idea discussed of every Board member sheparding 15-20 players through registration and being responsible for getting them signed up.  

8. Board page on Web site needs to be updated.

9.  League will get 3 new league balls for Spring.  

10.  Skip December meeting and come back in January.  Happy Holidays.
